Aboriginal Artifacts

looking for a forum to sell a watercolor by an Aboriginal artist.?

Recently i came across an Aboriginal Watercolor by Desmond Ebatarinja in a thrift store. This is an original and i’ve done a little research to know he is a well known artist that used to sell frequently to business investors in the 80s and 90s. I also understand that the Australians are trying to buy back their artifacts that had been sold to the world market. I have researched the auctioneers that have sold his pieces in the past in Australia. I didn’t know, would be better to sell it there or over here in the U.S.? And if here, any suggestions of a good auction house or a better forum?

If you are in U.S. go to the auction houses. They only take a percentage and expose the piece to the general art market at auction which you can not do. So why worry? They are not going to rip you off. If the piece is worth something then you will get something. It is better than stuffing it in your closet and not getting any thing. Right? If the piece is valuable as a collection of the artist’s work it should bring in something. Even if it is not an important piece of the artist’s repertoire it still should bring in something from a collector. Hope this helps. Good Luck.
