Would this be seen as a racist thing to do?
I’m doing an art assignment on culture, and if I were overexaggerate an Aboriginal or Papu New Guinea traditional outfit (to make it more surreal and fantasy like) would it be seen as racist?
The art assignment is based on a friendship between a non-Torrest Strait Islander and a Torrest Strait Islander and how beautiful there friendship is, so it’s not a negative view.
I just want to make sure anything I do in my art assignment is not racist.
The art assignment is on a world view, mine is on culture.
Just as long as everyone’s outfits are exaggerated and the element of fantasy is obvious. Sometimes the more extreme the flourishes are, the LESS of a direct depiction it is, and LESS of an insult by result.
