We love each over but I don’t want to be his rebound!!?

There is this guy I like I have know him for like 4 yrs and we dated for 3 weeks but everyone said we were not allowed to be together Because he is my dance partner and we are both Aboriginal and all the elders said its bad… So I stopped going to dance and kinder forgot about him till we worked together on his face painting gig… After we went out for lunch where he told me he was getting married to this girl!!
I did not talk to him for 3 weeks then he came over one day and started crying and told me that him and his girlfriend broke you… We sat and talked and I asked him why he said “she does not think I’m in love with her she thinks I’m in love with you”… I asked him if it was true he said yes… He had to go away for a aboriginal dance and he said when he gets back he wants to be together… But I’m not shore that’s what I want I love him but I don’t want to be the rebound girl… Help what I can I do!!

how long will he be gone…the longer the better..when he gets back, there is no reason to not try to develop a relationship with him and see where it goes
