What ype of art is this?
I dont know if your farmilliar with any of the ‘IGOR&ANDRE’ art pieces. Their mostly portraits, he uses big bold bright colours link pink, green, yellow and then really pale skin for the models. Basically im in highschool, and were doing portraits and we have to choose a style of art to transofrm outselves into. Everyone in my class is doing Abstracts, Aboriginal Dotting, Surrealism, Manga ect. all the common ones that are at the top of your head. But i wanna be different!
I have a picture in my head of what i want my portrait to look like, i want it pale skin like Igor+andre, with bright pinks in the background. But to make it different i wanna have like huge brightly coloured butterflies covering my face just showing a little of my glasses.
Do you think this would be catergorised as Fauvism, Surrealism or anything else?
We have to name the type of portrait were doing so i need a type of art.
Surrealist Magritte covered a face with an apple; Dali painted butterflies; your idea definitely puts you into the Surrealist mode. Magritte called this picture The Son of Man you could call it – Daughter of Man – with Apologies to Magritte; or, going with the Butterflies – Dali called his painting simply Landscape with Butterflies, you could call yours My personal Landscape with Butterflies – with Apologies to Dali
