Koori Art

What implements would Koori artists use to do Aboriginal Rock Art?

Koori artists used ochre, charcoal and clay to do their dot paintings. They are either ground up and mixed with water or used as is like with the clays. Many of the handprints you see are made by putting a hand against the rock and spitting paint over and around it..leaving the rock clean where the hand was and a speckled effect where the paint contacted the rock. Aboriginal Art is often portrayed as the artist looking down on the subject rather than facing it. That is why instead of mountains going up and down they are often portrayed as undulating lines and pools of water for example are painted as a circle. Hope this helps you.
