Oil Painting

How do you remove crayon from an old oil painting?

I have an old oil painting my great grandmother made over 20 years ago.

Sometime in the last 10 years, a child drew on it with crayon. I’d like to remove the crayon without damaging the painting.

So, if anyone has any for sure ideas on how to remove crayon from oil paint, please help me.

Thank you for your time.

Crayons and oil paint are made of the same stuff, so unfortunately anything that will remove the crayon will also remove the paint. Take it to a professional painting restorer, they will scrape off the crayon by hand under a microscope.
